Moscow: Putin meets with presidential candidates after landslide victory 0
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his rival presidential candidates in Moscow on Monday, after preliminary results suggested he had secured a landslide victory in the Russian presidential election.
He expressed his hope that in the future all of the candidates could unite their efforts and work for the benefit of Russia.
The Russian president also stated that his government’s main job in the future will be focused on “solving the internal problems of the country,” and announced that Moscow plans to reduce defense spending over the next two years.
He noted however that “due attention” will be paid to further strengthening Russia’s defense capabilities. “No one is going to accelerate an arms race. On the contrary, we will build constructive relations with other states of the world,” he concluded.
