Disgraced Makossa star to be heard by the Douala appeal court 0

There will be another hearing of the case Zakaria Abakar Terio, a Chadian businessman living in Cameroon against Ferdinand Din Din, alias Mota Nguigna- the celebrated Makossa star. A court in Douala announced on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 that the appeal will be heard on the 16th of August by the Court of Appeal in the Littoral.  Papillon was sentenced to 4 months in prison for fraud on May the 17th. The star has reportedly presented some guarantees and is seeking his freedom.

Three years ago, the Cameroonian musician was accused of extorting money from Abakar Zakaria Terio, following an altercation between the Chadian resident and a Malian over a 23 million CFA francs deal that involved a job at the United Nations.  Papillon arbitrated between the two men while posing as a police commissioner. He subsequently received 500,000 CFA francs and did promise the complainant to plead on his behalf to the State Prosecutor. Having realized it was a scam from the artist, Abakar Zakaria Terio filed a complaint to the Judicial Police, and the star was arrested.
