Air Algerie plane landed safely in Algiers ⁰

An Air Algerie flight traveling to the French city of Marseille has been forced to return to Algiers due to a technical failure. The airline said the plane landed safely in the Algerian capital on Saturday around 30 minutes after takeoff, AP reported.

The carrier said that no one was injured, adding that passengers were expected to board another plane for Marseille in southern France later in the day. There is no information about what caused the plane to return to the Algeria’s capital. Earlier, reports, citing online flight tracking sources, said that the flight AH1020 put out a mid-air emergency call shortly before disappearing from radar.

Initially the flight radar showed the passenger plane turning around and heading back towards the point where it took off but before landing, it disappeared from radar, the reports added. The flight had taken off at around 1.30 p.m. local time and was due to arrive in Marseille just after 4 p.m.

Breaking: Air Algerie Boeing 737-600 declares mid-air emergency and disappears from radar ⁰

A passenger plane has declared a mid-air emergency and seemingly disappeared from radar, according to reports.

The Air Algerie Boeing 737-600 took off from Algiers this afternoon on a flight to Marseille but let out an emergency call shortly after take-off.

Flight radar showed the plane turn around and head back towards the point where it took-off but before arriving, the jet disappeared from radar.

Plane tracking site Flight Radar 24 currently lists the plane’s status as “unknown”. Some flight enthusiasts have claimed the plane may have not been picked up below 17,000ft if it landed safely.

Ireland: Cameroon International Joseph Ndo donates his Eircom League winners medal to charity ⁰

Achill Rovers footballer, Joseph N’Do’s generosity and selflessness shone through over the weekend when he donated his 2006 Eircom League winning medal to Gearóid’s Smile, for it to be auctioned to raise money for children’s cancer. The former Cameroon International footballer was one of over 400 people who took part in the Three Peak Challenge in aid of Gearóid’s Smile on Achill Island over the weekend.

Gearóid’s Smile is a children’s cancer charity which is in memory of six-year-old Gearóid Murphy from Achill who died from cancer in 2014.N’Do who made 21 appearances for Cameroon and played in the 1998 World Cup in France stunned Gearóid’s family when he presented the Eircom League medal he won in 2006 while playing for Dublin club Shelbourne. The medal will be auctioned at a later date to raise money for Gearóid’s Smile.

Generosity

Gearóid’s mother, Mary told The Mayo News that this gesture by N’Do was an example of the generosity and support which people have shown towards them.“You don’t expect things like this…you don’t expect someone to hand over their medal which they worked hard to win. It just shows you of the absolute generosity of the people and the outstanding community spirit in Achill which is second to none. People who were not able to climb made themselves available to volunteer to do something else. Everyone rallied behind the event, just the same as last year,” she said.

Gearóid would have made his First Holy Communion this year and his class in Dooagh NS presented a cheque of €100 towards the charity, which was raised from donations they received for their Communion.A huge number of people took part in the Three Peak Challenge in Saturday which involved climbing the three highest mountains on Achill Island.

The climb started at 6am with 138 people starting the first climb of Croaghan, 200 took part in the climb and walk at Slievemore while 105 completed the challenge with the climb of Minaun.Mary said they were thrilled with the turnout and thanked all the people who travelled to take part and made it an enjoyable event.

South African man of God dies trying to imitate Jesus Christ ⁰

A popular South African pastor died after attempting dry fasting which the Prince of Peace did for 40 days. The South African pastor reportedly told his followers that he would match Jesus Christ by depriving himself of food and water in the bush for 40 days.

Pastor Alfred Ndlovu, aged 44 in an attempt to break the record of Jesus Christ who fasted for 40 days, left home for the bush on June the 17, 2016.

Cameroon Intelligence Report gathered he starved himself just for 30 days and traveled to the land of his ancestors. His body was found by a passer-by who informed the police.

Pan-African Parliament: MPs hold political discourse on terrorism ⁰

Secretaries from more than half of African national assemblies have met in South Africa for their annual conference. The elected representatives are to discuss the benefits of ratifying African Union treaties notably the new protocol of the Pan-African Parliament.

Earlier, members of the committee on cooperation, international relations and conflict resolutions of the Pan-African Parliament were urged to improve the continent’s response to terrorism by making it a national priority.

Professors Magloire Ondoua and Vincent Ntuda Ebode from Cameroon were guest-speakers at both events.
The Pan African parliamentarians expressed outrage at repeated armed attacks on some of their colleagues. The MPs staged a protest against the violence.

The two Cameroonian Professors, Joseph Vincent Ntouda Ebode and Magloire Ondoa educated parlementarians, Secretary Generals and Presidents of parliaments of the continent on the challenges to be surmounted in the fight against terrorism. The discourse on terrorism was in view of the full activation of the legislative powers of the continental parliament.

Nigeria: International Crisis Group says children are dying from lack of food in Bama ⁰

Children are dying in Bama, a town in Borno state, north-east Nigeria, suffering from lack of food, clean water and medical care reports the International Crisis Group.

They are the most tragic manifestation of the humanitarian fallout of the Boko Haram insurgency and the state response to it, a crisis that now impacts the lives of millions.

The insurgency itself, the aggressive military response to it, and the lack of effective assistance, both national and international, to those caught up in the conflict threaten to create an endless cycle of violence and depredation.

Unless efforts to contain and roll back the current crisis are quickly scaled-up, peace is likely to remain a distant prospect in this region of Nigeria.

Cameroon: 369 teachers summoned to Yaounde ⁰

Jean Ernest Ngalle Bibehe, Cameroon’s Minister of Secondary Education (MINESEC), has summoned 369 teachers to Yaounde. Cameroon Concord News gathered that the 369 have been called by the MINESEC boss to justify the authenticity of their deeds of engagement with the Cameroon government.

The MINESEC move is aim at giving marginalized institutions genuine teachers. New teachers assigned in the hinterland, often desert their duty stations and make use of various subterfuges, ending up in major cities and specifically in Douala, Yaoundé, Bafoussam, or other regional capitals that offer the minimum of modernity.

In the new policy, Minister Jean Ernest Ngalle Bibehe wants to change things. He intends to have sufficient quantity and quality in all public secondary schools including a dedicated staff. After the clean-up campaign, those teachers found guilty of having used false deeds of engagement will be ruthlessly crushed.

Race for the White House: Hillary Clinton enjoying financial support from billionaires ⁰

US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is enjoying financial support from a growing list of American billionaires who oppose Republican nominee Donald Trump.

According to a recent report by Fox News, the former secretary of state’s presidential campaign has so far received more than $42.5 million in donations from a total of 24 billionaires.

So far, movie producers Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg, financiers Warren Buffett and George Soros, and Walmart heiress Alice Walton have all made contributions to the former first lady’s campaign.

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey (pictured below) has also thrown her weight behind Clinton. Haim Saban is another media magnate that will support Clinton in the battle against Trump.

Billionaire environmentalist Thomas Steyer joined the list and endorsed Clinton in early June. Some of the multimillionaires have donated millions to a top Clinton superPAC named Priorities USA Action.Saban ($10 million), Soros ($7 million), hedge fund billionaire James Simons ($7 million), Hyatt Hotel heir J.B. Pritzker and his wife Mary Kathryn Pritzker ($6.5 million), Slim-Fast founder S. Daniel Abraham ($3 million), Hedge fund billionaire David Shaw ($2.25 million), investors Jon and Pat Stryker ($1.5 million each), Spielberg ($1 million), Legendary Entertainment founder and CEO Thomas Tull ($1 million), and the list goes on.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg are some of the other major figures who are siding with Clinton.

In addition to the pro-Clinton billionaires, some of the Republican-leaning tycoons have announced that that they will not support Trump as the party nominee.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise CEO Meg Whitman, for instance, has joined industrial power-brokers Charles and David Koch in withdrawing support from fellow GOP billionaire Trump.

Whitman has pushed the envelope even further by stating that she will endorse and help fund Clinton.

In addition to Priorities USA Action, million have been paid to other Clinton funds Hillary for America and Hillary Victory Fun. Pro-Clinton such as PACs American Bridge 21st Century, Priorities USA Action 2016 and Correct the Record have also received huge donations.

After student motion of support: Biya heading for early re-election ⁰

All the lights are now green in Cameroon for a possible re- election of the 83 years old Cameroonian dictator. After multiple calls teleguided by members of the CPDM crime syndicate and facing an opposition that has ran short of ideas and extremely lacking political finesse, President Paul Biya now has the backing of the student community.

The students have stormed the streets of the nation to say “thank you” to the head of state, for promising to make available 500 000 computer laptops to them. The 75 billion CFA francs is a loan that the Francophone Beti-Ewondo head of state has contracted with the Peoples Republic of China, spread over a repayment period of 20 to 25 years.

Our source at the presidency of the republic hinted that the repayment of the 75 billion FCFA will run until 2036 and could be rescheduled in 2041. Staff man Cham Victor Bama, who contributed to this report observed that in every country in the world, students are always in the opposition. He added that “The reaction coming from the student community is politically motivated.” What is evidently clear is that President will seek another mandate soon.

CPDM tycoon dies in Paris, France ⁰

André Fotso, a prominent CPDM business leader and CEO of Groupement Inter Patronal Du Cameroun is no more. Andre Fotso passed away in Paris, France late on Tuesday at the age of 58. The late business tycoon hailed from Bandjoun in the West region.

Fotso owned a holding company including TAF Investment Group, 3T Cameroon, Fme-Gaz and Cometal. He joined the Cameroon employers group, GICAM and was elected to head the body in 2002.

In December 2014, he was again re-elected to head GICAM, a position he held until his sudden disappearance to the land of his ancestors. He also moonlighted as President of the Eco Bank Board.
