World football governing body, FIFA decided on the 23rd of August 2017 to appoint a standardization committee within the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), in accordance with Art. 14, para. 1 (a) and s. 8, para. 2 of the FIFA Statutes-a decision that vindicates Abduramane Hamadou putting an end to the CPDM-Issa Hayatou mafia that has been destroying Cameroon football.

FIFA said in a press release that the decision is linked to the confirmation by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) of the judgment of the Conciliation and Arbitration Chamber of the Cameroonian Olympic and Sports Committee, which canceled the electoral procedure that led to the election in 2015 of the current Executive Committee of FECAFOOT and, on the other hand, recent unsuccessful attempts by FIFA to bring the different stakeholders of Cameroonian football together.

The FIFA mandate of the committee includes the following tasks:

Manage the current affairs of FECAFOOT;

Develop, in consultation with all stakeholders, new statutes that are in compliance with the FIFA Statutes and Standards as well as with the compulsory national legislation in force;

Revise the statutes of the regional and departmental leagues and ensure their conformity with the statutes of FECAFOOT;

Identify delegates from the FECAFOOT General Assembly as well as regional and departmental leagues;

Organize the elections of a new executive committee of FECAFOOT.

The standardization committee will consist of an appropriate number of members, who will be appointed by a joint FIFA and CAF mission in the very near future. It will also work as an electoral commission and none of its members will be eligible for the posts to be filled in the elections. The mandate of the Standardization Committee shall expire on 28 February 2018 at the latest.

Cameroon star Vincent Aboubakar is firing on all cylinders ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier between his national team and the Super Eagles at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Super Eagles defenders will have to be at their best as the Porto striker who fired a hat-trick on Sunday against Moreirense is now the leading scorer in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. His hat-trick on Sunday took his league tally for the season to four goals.

According to sports daily O Jogo, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal scouts were among the 46,509 spectators at the Estádio Do Dragão.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Porto’s Algeria international Yacine Brahimi this summer, while Manchester United and City have monitored his progress in the past.

Juventus, two French and two Spanish clubs also sent their scouts to monitor the game between Porto and Moreirense.

Former Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen is certain Nigeria’s opponents in the September 1 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier, Cameroon will not go down easily in Uyo, even as he believes the Eagles will soar over their guests. Eguavoen Eguavoen who spoke with Sports Vanguard at the Greensprings Schools, Ajah where he is heading a technical crew in charge of the 2017 Camp GTBank said, “I am sure the Eagles will win the match in Uyo. We have all played against Cameroon before. Results can swing and there is this element of luck. But I must warn, we must not drop points at home. If we win, we will be a pole position to qualify for the World Cup, which is enough motivation for our players. Our players will not want to toy with the opportunity to go to the World Cup.

“The World Cup is a stage where a player’s profile rises, his market value is enhanced and these boys (Eagles) have shown hunger and thirst for World Cup glory.” He reasoned that pressure is on the Cameroonians who are down the ladder (second behind Nigeria) with four points difference will fight to the end. “Their strength lies in the physical aspect of the game because they are physical in all departments. They are down and will want to come out and attack in order to get a respectable result. But they will respect us because if they show no respect for the Eagles they will pay dearly for that.

“Cameroon will come out to play because I know their coach, Hugo Broos back in my playing days in Belgium. He too knows most of us including late Keshi, Oliseh among others. He once handled Club Brugge, where Amokachi once played for. Hugo likes attacking football and we all saw it during the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA Confederations Cup,” Eguavoen said.

Lucas Ocampos missed a late chance to score an injury-time winner and then got sent off as Marseille drew 1-1 at home to Angers. The Argentine forward latched onto a headed flick from striker Valere Germain and sprinted into the penalty area.

But rather than shoot, Ocampos cut inside from the left but lost control of the ball. As he tried to get it back, he recklessly lunged into defender Romain Thomas, catching him just below the knee. Earlier, Clinton Njie made it three goals in three games to put Marseille ahead in the 17th minute.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick has declared in Lagos that the football house is ready for the double-header FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifier against Cameroon. Pinnick Pinnick who was special guest at the Nigeria Women Football League Super 4 draw held at the Protea Hotel Ikeja yesterday said, “everything on the wish list has been provided for. What we require now for the team to excel is prayer.”

He defended his call for prayers as he said, “on our part we are ready, and I believe the players too are ready for Cameroon. Without God’s blessing, nothing will work. We have to pray against injury and other unforeseen mishaps.” The NFF supremo disclosed that the meeting he had with the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel was fruitful as the state government was determined to ensure the Super Eagles qualify for the Mundial.

He praised the government and people of Akwa Ibom State for their steadfastness and commitment to Nigeria’s world Cup and Africa Cup of Nations campaigns. “The governor was impressed and promised that he would do anything to see Nigeria qualifies for the World Cup,” Pinnick said.

Borussia Dortmund looks to have discovered another superstar of the future in Youssoufa Moukoko.

The Cameroon-born 12-year-old has so impressed bosses at the Bundesliga outfit that he was quickly promoted from their Under-15s side — where he scored 33 goals in just 21 appearances — to the Under-17s.

The youngster took little time in repaying the club’s faith as he bagged a brace in a 3-0 victory over rivals SG Unterrath.

Some, however, have questioned whether Moukoko is really such a tender age. His father Joseph is not having any of it, saying: ‘The boy can’t be older because his mum, Marie, is only 28.’

After staging a friendly football encounter in Oslo, capital of Norway against the Black Stars of Ghana, the governing council of the Republic of Ambazonia (the Southern Cameroons) is expected to make an official application to become a member of the Confederation of African Football, CAF and the world football governing body, FIFA.

The match was organized at the request of the Southern Cameroons Football Association with permission granted to the players to brandish their Ambazonian passports as seen on the photo attached to this report.

Cameroon Concord News gathered that the interim leader of the Southern Cameroons Governing Council will make a pronouncement soonest authorizing the creation of a Southern Cameroons national football team. We also understand SCACUF will be applying for CAF and FIFA membership in the weeks ahead.

A well-placed source with ties to the spokesman of the Southern Cameroons Governing Council hinted that a committee has already been put in place to select a name for the Ambazonian national team.

La Republique du Cameroun is now fifth (5th) in the FIFA African ranking made public today August the 10th, 2017 behind Tunisia in fourth position.

The country that is currently at daggers-drawn positions with the new leadership of the Confederation of African Football Association is ahead of Nigeria (6th), Burkina Faso (7th), Algeria (8th), Ghana (9th) and Côte d’Ivoire (10th).

With a decisive 2018 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria, Cameroun also ranked 35th, progressing from one place in the World classification.

Justin Gatlin tore up Usain Bolt’s farewell script as he stole world 100m gold with the run of his long and controversial career.

Bolt was left with only a bronze in his final individual 100m race as 21-year-old Christian Coleman made it a USA one-two.

The 35-year-old Gatlin, twice banned for doping, came through almost unnoticed in lane seven in 9.92 seconds, with Coleman’s 9.94 holding off the greatest sprinter of all time.

Despite struggling for fitness and form in his valedictory season, Bolt had still been favourite to secure his 20th global gold.

It was supposed to be Gatlin’s year in 2015, when the American went to the World Championships in Beijing on the back of a 28-race unbeaten run.

Bolt produced his great miracle to beat him that night in the Bird’s Nest, but in the stadium where he won 100m Olympic gold in 2012, he could not provide the perfect ending to a perfect career.
