The International Center for Sport Studies (CIES) in its monthly report of December 2016 has revealed that 17% of Cameroonian footballers currently playing in 31 European championships migrated before they actually turned 18.

The report stated that Cameroon is the second African country after Nigeria and the 9th in the world where the migratory flow of young footballers under 18 is most intense. To be sure, the European continent remains the main destination for the export of minor footballers and many of them were transferred to their clubs before their 18th birthday.

Nigeria occupies the 7th position in the world and is the main exporter in Africa with a rate of 19% of international transfer before the players become mature. Brazil is the largest non-European country with 20%.

However, football’s world governing body (FIFA) prohibits the transfer of minors abroad. Nevertheless, there are three exceptions. “If the player’s parents move to the country of the new club for reasons other than football; Whether the transfer takes place within the European Union or within the European Economic Area for players aged 16 to 18; If the maximum border between the domicile of the player and the club does not exceed 100 km .”

Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o currently playing with Antalyaspor of Turkey has been honored by the Antalya city council in Turkey. Eto’o was made honorary citizen and he received the award on Monday the 12^th of December 2016, after his club recorded a historic win over Fenerbahce on the 14^th day of the Turkish Championship.

“I am very grateful to Turkey and my Turkish brothers for all the affection they have shown me since the first day I arrived here. Special thanks to Antalyaspor, the city of Antalya and our Mayor Menderestürel. I am proud to be an honorary citizen! “Said Samuel Eto’o in a post posted on his Instagram account.

The Cameroonian striker officially joined Antalyaspor on Tuesday the 7^th of July 2015 from the Italian club of Sampdoria of Genoa. Antalyaspor is the eleventh club of his career.

The indomitable Lions have recorded a second draw against the Zambian national team in Limbe today Saturday the 12th of November 2016. The visitors got the opening goal to the general surprise in the 35th minute through a Collins Mbesuma free kick. Aboubakar Vincent (on penalty) allowed the indomitable Lions to equalize just before the break (45 + 2). The second half produced nothing for the Green Red Yellow boys.

Nigeria has taken the upper hand after beating Algeria 2-0. Cameroon’s hope for Russia 2018 is fading away slowly but surely. Nigeria is provisionally first in Group B with 6 points, Cameroon 2nd with 2 points, Algeria and Zambia each have a point.

The defender, Henri Bedimo has left the Lions camp in Limbe and is heading back to France. Bedimo sustained an injury on Wednesday, November 9 during a training session with his teammates at the Centinery Stadium in Limbe.

The Olympique Marseille player is en route to France for treatment hinted Vincent de Paul Atangana, the press officer of the Cameroon National football team. Bedimo has joined the list of injured players including Karl Toko Ekambi and Eric Choupo Moting who were replaced by Christian Bassogog and Franck Boya.

Head coach Hugo Broos conducted the second training session with the 22 players available. The Indomitable Lions are preparing for the match against Zambia, scheduled for November 12 in Limbe for qualification to Russia 2018.

Samuel Eto’o ,the former captain of the Indomitable Lions gave victory to his team Antalyaspor, on  Monday  by scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot at the 28th minute. It was his first goal of the most difficult season of his career and it came against Kayserispor.

Antalyaspor has now left the bottom of the Turkish league table now occupied by Adanaspor. Samuel Eto’o has certainly not forgotten the huge bet he did to a supporter of the club. While the latter was very worried about the future of the club, Eto’o said his club would finish in the top 10 at the end of the season. If his prediction is not fulfilled, the former FC Barcelona has pledged to provide 100,000 euros (about 65 million FCFA) to the fan in question.

Samuel Eto’o Fils, star-player of Turkish club Antalyaspor has reportedly promised a fan of the club the sum of 100,000 euros (65 million FCFA) if the club fails to be among the top 10 in the Turkish league table this season.

The angry fan had descended to the dressing room after a home game on Monday, October 17, 2016 in which Antalyaspor was held to a draw (1-1) by Rizespor in a championship game. The supporter expressed his worried about the current performance of the club (ranked last of the Turkish Superlig).

Samuel Eto’o responded by calling on the fan to remain confident and appealed to the fan to continue to believe in Antalyaspor. The Cameroonian football legend added that he would write a cheque of 100,000 euros (65 million FCFA) to his interlocutor if Antalyaspor did not finish in the top 10 of the Turkish championship. Eto’o and his teammates are having a difficult season and have recorded a total of 3 points in 7 matches played.

French cyclist, Roman Martial has won the second lap of the 16th edition of the Chantal Biya International Cycling tour from Yaounde- Ebolowa. The winner covered a distance of 155km.

He was closely followed by another French man, Guglielmi Simon. At the third position was the Cameroonian, Artuce Tella from Team Cameroon.

The two laps still to be covered are;
– Zoe Etele – Meyomesala (143km)
– Sangmelima – Yaounde (148km)

The 16th edition of the Chantal Biya International Cycling Tour will end on the 16^th of October 2016.

The 2016 edition of the Chantal Biya, Cameroon’s first lady international cycling tour has officially gotten into action today. Contrary to the previous year where the race began with a prologue, this time around, day one of the race will be used for the presentation of the participating teams.

There will be a total of four stages with all around the Centre and South regions of the country. Nine teams will be part of the race and they include; 3 Africans (Morocco, Rwanda and Côte d’Ivoire), 4 European teams (2 from France, Slovakia and Switzerland) and 2 Cameroonian teams (SNH and Team Cameroon).

The different stages of the competition have been earmarked as follows:

Stage 1: Yaoundé-Bafia

Stage 2: Yaoundé-Ebolowa 155km

Stage 3: Zoe Etele-Meyomesala 143km

Stage 4: Sangmelima-Yaounde 148km.

The 2016 edition of the Chantal Biya International Cycling Tour officially starts on Thursday October 13 and finishes on October 16, 2016.

The Algerian FA has sacked head coach Milovan Rajevac following a draw the Serbian technician recorded against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Sunday the 9^th of October 2016.The Serbian coach is unemployed again, just three months after his appointment as head of the technical staff of the Algeria football national team.

The decision to get rid of Milovan Rajevac was made public by the Algerian Football Federation on its website. The statement did not however provide any reason for the sacking. But local media reports in Algiers say the poor performance of the Algerians in the match against the Lions of Cameroon hosted at the Mustapha Tchaker stadium in the city of Blida for the first day of the final round of qualification for the World Cup Russia 2018 heralded his dismissal.

The Algerian FA announced that Mr. Milovan Rajevac resigned on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 as national coach of the Algeria team. Milovan Rajevac who led the Black Stars of Ghana to the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa has also prematurely left Algeria with a record of a win and a draw in two matches played.

He is the second coach to have been sacked after Javier Clemente of Libya earlier this week following a (4-0) thrashing by the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The 2016 edition of the international cycling race, Grand Prix Chantal Biya will kick off tomorrow with the first lap expected to be run between Yaounde and Bafia. The last preparatory meeting towards the organization of the race took place on October 6^th and was presided by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education representing the minister.

It came out from that meeting that all was now set towards the effective take off of the race. Ten teams from Europe and Africa will be taking part in the race. The bulk of the foreign delegation will arrive in the country today including the referee of the race, Belgian born Jean Pierre Coppenole. The race will comprise four laps; Yaounde-Bafia, Yaounde Ebolowa, Zoetele –Meyomessala and Sangmelima-Yaounde. The kick-off of the race will be at the place de l’Independence, whereas the arrival will be at the 20^th May Boulevard.
