Heavily armed Cameroon government army soldiers put on Ambazonia Revolutionary Guards robes before heading off on their killing mission to Taraba State in Nigeria, Cameroon Intelligence Report has gathered from a well placed source at the Ministry of Defense in Yaoundé.

The Cameroon government soldiers who slaughtered 11 Nigerian civilians and four Southern Cameroons refugees in Taraba were disguised in Ambazonia self defense dress, Cameroon Intelligence Report can now reveal.

The Cameroon government troops who targeted Manga village in Shigom ward of Takum Local Government Area and killed the local chief alongside four notables had standing instructions from Yaoundé, our source said.

People in the know deep within the Nigerian military positions in Taraba also hinted this reporter that those who carried out the attack spoke in French and had the kind of weapons used by Cameroon government special forces, the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR).

First, a group of Cameroon government soldiers arrived the Takum Local Government Area and signaled the 23 Battalion of the Nigerian military command post in Takum that they were inside Nigerian territory on an anti Ambazonia mission. But their real mission was to provide cover for their colleagues disguised in Ambazonia Self Defense dress.

The disguised Francophone soldiers reportedly staged the attacks and were ferried back to their base by elements of the Rapid Intervention Battalion.  Eleven Nigerian and four Southern Cameroons civilians were gunned down in Manga.

Speaking to our correspondent in Nigeria, a Taraba man recalled the terrifying scene as the disguised Cameroon government soldiers moved stealthily through Manga looking for more victims during their murderous spree.

In Abuja, a senator representing Taraba South, Hon. Emmanuel Bwacha, raised the alarm that Nigeria’s territorial sovereignty was under threat following the alleged invasion of Manga community in the Takum Local Government Area of Taraba by Ambazonia separatists from Southern Cameroon. His statement was greeted with much relief by pro Biya military officers.

Immediately after the attack, the 23 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, stationed in Takum Local Government Area was on high alert as locals raged about the killings.

So far Yaoundé has refused to comment on the Taraba attack even though Abuja has blamed the attack on Ambazonia Revolutionary Guards.

Both sub saharan countries share a long border of about 1,000 km to the east by Cameroon and to the west for the Central African Republic and their two French speaking peoples have always traded.

But in recent years, trade on the Douala-Bangui corridor, a vehicle for sub-regional integration, has been halted several times for security reasons.

Cameroonian populations are regularly subjected to incursions by Central African armed groups.

The UN says that there are more than 295,000 Central African refugees on Cameroonian soil.

The Senior Divisional Officer for Bui Division in the North-West has accused Southern Cameroons teachers of financing the Ambazonia Revolutionary Guards and by extrapolition, the war in West Cameroon.

According to Menyong Gilbert Sunday, prefect of Bui, teachers in his administrative unit are contributing financially to the war effort in support of the separatists fighters.

The Biya appointee opined recently that Southern Cameroons teachers were “taking advantage of the persistence of the Ambazonia conflict and are not going to the classrooms, but receive their salaries at the end of each month.”

The new Senior Divisional Officer for Bui signed a prefectural order asking the six sub-prefects of his command unit to draw up a list of absentee teachers in order to punish them.

The National Union of Higher Education Teachers (Synes) has denounced the prefect’s accusations and promised to take the matter to the administrative court.

As a reminder, the Anglophone crisis began in October 2016 with corporatist demands from teachers and lawyers.

The teachers denounced their working conditions while the lawyers demonstrated against the absence of the English version of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (Ohada).

In five years, these demands have led to a conflict that has resulted in at least 10,000 deaths and more than 700,000 internally displaced persons and refugees.

The Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Defense confirmed on Sunday, the deaths of two notorious Francophone army generals Nganso Sunji Jean and Oumarou Djam Yaya.

Generals Nganso and Oumarou Djam Yaya quitted the Cameroon military and political scenes on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the Central hospital in Yaoundé.

According to Defense Minister Joseph Beti Assomo, the two senior officers of the Cameroonian army died from an undisclosed illness.

However, Cameroon Intelligence Report gathered that the veteran French Cameroun soldiers died from Covid-19 related complications. Both French speaking Cameroonians were promoted to the rank of General in July 1993.

Jean Nganso Sunji, a native of the Western Region was an engineer who graduated from the Paris Polytechnic School before becoming a general in 1983.  He died at the age of 84.

Oumarou Djam Yaya, aged 82, originally from Northern Cameroon had a spell at the National Gendarmerie School in 1957 and graduated from the Yaoundé Inter-Army Military School (Emia) as a specialist in criminology.

The two generals who died on Sunday were among the senior officers who worked to thwart the attempted coup of April 1984.

The Ambazonia Interim Government, (IG) has voiced concern over the fate of Southern Cameroons detainees in French Cameroun jails including New Bell and Kondengui as seriously ill prisoners are being denied essential and adequate medical treatment.

In a statement today, Vice President Dabney Yerima reaffirmed the Ambazonia Interim Government’s call for the immediate release of all Southern Cameroons detainees including President Sisiku Ayuk Tabe and his top aides in the notorious Kondengui and New Bell prisons.

The statement came as pro English speaking independent newspapers in Yaoundé and Douala uncovered that many Southern Cameroons detainees lack proper medical treatment.

Vice President Dabney Yerima also urged international rights groups to visit the notorious New Bell and Kondengui prisons and inspect the conditions of detention for the forgotten Southern Cameroons detainees.

Since the Southern Cameroons crisis hit the global stage some five years ago, some 10,000 Cameroonians have been killed, with army soldiers accounting for close to 35% of the deaths.

Thousands of civilians and soldiers have been maimed and scarred for life in a conflict that could have been addressed through negotiations and genuine dialogue.

Gunmen killed at least eight Cameroonian security members after they ambushed a convoy in Cameroon’s English-speaking region of Northwest on Saturday, according to security and local sources.

A senior police officer told Xinhua that the gunmen ambushed and attacked the convoy that was transporting security forces to their duty posts around 7:30 a.m. local time on Saturday in Santa, a locality in the region.

“Five police officers, three gendarmes and a civilian were killed in the attack making it nine people killed. Another police officer was seriously injured, and he is receiving treatment in a hospital,” the officer who asked not to be named told Xinhua by phone, adding that attackers used a rocket launcher.

Security forces have blocked the highway leading to the locality and are in pursuit of the gunmen, whom the army suspect are separatist fighters who are known to be operating in the area.

It is one of the bloodiest attacks in the troubled region this year, officials said.

Separatists have been clashing with government forces in Cameroon’s Anglophone regions of Northwest and Southwest in a bid to create an independent nation they called “Ambazonia.”

Gunmen abducted at least 14 road construction workers in Cameroon’s war-torn Anglophone region of Northwest on Friday, according to a local official.

Abdou Borno Kamfon, mayor of Ndu Council of the region said the workers were rehabilitating a bad stretch of road in Mbusoh locality when armed men came and seized them.

“They were sent there by the Ndu Council to repair the road. We do not know their whereabouts yet. We are still trying to secure their release,” Kamfon told Xinhua by phone.

The road is a deviation regularly used by passengers who are escaping from armed separatists who had blocked the main road for over four years now, according to locals.

The Cameroon army is conducting a rescue mission to secure the safe release of the hostages, local authorities said.

Abductions are common in the region where the army and armed separatists have been clashing since 2017.

The separatists want to create an independent nation they called “Ambazonia” in Cameroon’s two Anglophone regions of Northwest and Southwest.
