The 10th edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) women’s football 2016 will kick off today Saturday in Yaoundé in Cameroon. President Biya will witness the opening ceremony and the Cameroonian chief executive will watch the opener which begins at 15:30 (1430 GMT) that opposes Cameroon and Egypt.
Eight teams are participating in the competition. The matches will be played in Yaoundé in the Centre region and Limbe in the South-West. Our Indomitable Lionesses are currently stationed in Yaoundé in the same pool as Egypt, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
In Limbe, our brother-enemy Nigeria has occupied the South West region excluding Bakassi alongside Mali, Ghana and Kenya. The finals will be played on December the 3rd.
Supported by an audience that lives predominantly below the UN poverty line but manipulated by the victories of football, the lionesses intend to put their names on the list of this competition.
